FREE TOOL · FLAG RISK BEFORE RENEWAL
Free customer health score builder

Your scorecard
Rename the areas and set how much each one matters. Weights are relative, so they do not need to add up to 100.
Accounts: score each area 1 (poor) to 5 (strong)
Health ranking: riskiest first
| Account | Score | Status | Weakest area | Next step |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Orchard Health $90,000 | 24 | At risk | Sponsor engagement | Book time with the sponsor and ask what they need to see. |
| Halden Logistics $120,000 | 48 | At risk | Relationship depth | Add a second and third contact. Meet someone new this month. |
| Vela Retail $60,000 | 63 | Watch | Sponsor engagement | Book time with the sponsor and ask what they need to see. |
| Northstar $180,000 | 80 | Healthy | Results delivered | Show progress against the agreed goals and fix what is behind. |
How the score works
- Each area is scored 1 to 5, scaled to 0 to 100 and weighted by importance.
- Healthy is 70 or more, Watch is 50 to 69, At risk is below 50. Change the limits to match your accounts.
- The weakest area sets the suggested next step. Ties go to the area you weighted higher.
- Scores are your judgement. Review them monthly and write down why a score changed.

What is a customer health score?
A customer health score is a single number that sums up how healthy a client relationship is. It combines weighted signals such as results, relationship depth, sponsor engagement and commercial health into a green, amber or red status, so you can act on risk before a renewal is in danger.
How to build a customer health score
Pick four to six signals you can judge without much data. Weight them by how strongly they predict a renewal in your business. Score each from 1 to 5 and review monthly.
Start simple. A score you update every month beats a complex model you never revisit.
- Results delivered against agreed goals.
- Relationship depth: how many people you know.
- Sponsor engagement.
- Commercial health: payments, scope changes, renewal terms.
- Sentiment and feedback.
Green, amber and red thresholds
Choose limits that match your accounts, and adjust after a few months. If every account is green, raise the limit. If most are red, check whether the scoring is too strict.
The point is the conversation the score starts, not the number.
What to do with the score
Review red and amber accounts weekly, and fix the weakest area first. Weak relationship depth calls for new contacts. Weak results call for a recovery plan. Weak sponsor engagement calls for a direct conversation.
Link each action to the account plan and check it at the next review.
Limits of a health score
A score is a judgement made from imperfect signals. It can miss a sudden change at the client. Talk to the account owner before you trust a green score on a large account.
